The Tavern of "Pot de Terre"
The site of the street of "Pot de Fer" was, before its construction, a famous vineyard: "Le Clos Ste Geneviève".
The sior Jehan Lonnet, ploughman and merchant, built this house in 1539. It was called then: House of the White Cross .
As of his origin, one stored in his cellars the wine of "Clos céans".
The vicinity took the practice to come to refresh the throat there. This tradition was maintained.
The legends relates that at the XVII th century, the Musketeers and Guards of Roy, notably the famous d'Artagnan, draw grinds drinking bouts and feasts in these places where still ring in our ears their laughter and the rattling of the swords because the duels were frequent.
Opposite, it was the convent of the Sisters Ste Aurore where Madam de Maintenon and Philippe V of Spain were raised. Fénélon professed there.
Today, in the tradition of the tavern keepers and landlords who preceded us during centuries, we are happy to fill you the paunch and to water you in good and merry company.
